School Nutrition
The School Nutrition Department proudly provides over 3,000 students in Jackson Count Public Schools with access to balanced and nutritious meals. In the 2023-2024 school year, over 178,000 breakfast meals and over 367,000 lunch meals were served in our schools.

Smart Snack Standards
The USDA has very specific rules that schools must follow when it comes to serving snacks in the classroom.
To be considered a Smart Snack, a snack must meet ONE of these three requirements

Have a whole grain as the first ingredient. OR
-
The first ingredient is a fruit, vegetable, dairy food, or a protein food. OR
-
A snack that has 1/4 cup of fruit or vegetable mixed in. Example - 1/4 cup of raisins with enriched pretzels.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
