To better address the increasing concern of vaping by students in our community, Smoky Mountain High School will be working with "Mountain Wise," a non-profit organization geared to providing support for tobacco cessation programs across western North Carolina. Teachers and staff will participate in professional development to help increase awareness of vaping use, and students will attend class meetings concerning the dangers and addictive nature of vaping. In addition, on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 5:30 p.m., parents of middle and high school students are invited to attend a workshop to increase community awareness and address questions and concerns about vaping. The workshop will be held in the SMHS Auditorium. For more information, please call the school at 586-2177.
