Academics

At Smoky Mountain High School, our dedicated faculty work hard to help each student realize his or her full potential. Our philosophy can be summed up by our school motto, “Locally grown, globally prepared.”
Smoky Mountain High School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction which means we have met or exceeded all educational standards required by two accrediting bodies. We have 67 fully-licensed, highly-qualified teachers. Almost 28 percent have advanced degrees, and 13 of them have earned their National Board Certification.
Our exceptional teachers work hard on their own time beyond the school day and during the summer to develop new and innovative programs designed to help all students successfully complete high school. Programs like the Freshman Academy, Smart Lunch, ACT Prep, and our new computer science program are all due to the hard work of our dedicated teachers.
The academic success of all students is the foundation of everything we do at Smoky Mountain High School. To learn more, please call us at (828) 586-2177.
