Our Schools

New Students

Welcome to our SME family! We are so excited to have you join our student body. We recommend that you register at least one day prior to your first day. If you have questions, please contact us at (828) 497-5535. Here are a few tips to help you get started:

Items needed for Enrollment:

  • Proof of Residency (utility bill, driver’s license, etc.)
  • Current Immunization Record
  • Birth Certificate
  • Name and location of Previous School
  • Valid photo ID for Parent or Guardian
  • Legal Guardianship Papers (if applicable)
  • Special Needs Documents, such as AIG, IEP, 504, etc. (if applicable)
  • Other items that would be helpful:
  • Current Report Card or Transcript
  • Eastern Band Cherokee Information
  • MTSS Tier Paperwork
  • Homeschooled students will need to bring as many records as possible

Items Needed to Complete Enrollment:

  • Demographic Form
  • Home Language Form
  • Registration Form
  • Health Information
  • Transportation Form
  • Emergency Dismissal Form
  • Parent/Guardian Affidavit (completed with the Office Manager/requires valid photo ID)

For Grades K-5, students may participate in Cherokee Language. Please consider this option and let our team know when you register. For students in Grades 6-8, there are several activity courses to select from, such as SME Singers, Art, Cherokee Language, Film Critique, and more. Please ask for more details about these options when you register.
