Applications for the 2024-2025 School Year

JCPS will accept preschool applications and complete developmental screenings for applications for the 2024-2025 school year on March 15, 2024.

Students hoping to attend Blue Ridge School Preschool will be screened at Blue Ridge School.

Students hoping to attend preschool programs at Cullowhee Valley, Fairview, Scotts Creek, or Smokey Mountain Elementary will be screened at the Burrell Building on the campus of Southwestern Community College at 447 College Drive, Sylva, NC.

Students who will turn 4 by August 31, 2024 are prioritized for most programs. Blue Ridge School and Smokey Mountain Elementary School have programs designed for students who will turn 3 by August 31, 2024 and will also accept applications for 3-year olds.

Appointments are required.

Applications

Families may print and complete the forms below and bring them to their screening appointment.  Paper copies will also be available for completion on the screening day. 

-All families must complete the JCPS preschool application below. 

-Families who wish to apply for NC Pre-k financial support and whose child will turn 4 by August 31, 2024 should complete the NC Pre-k application below.

-Families applying for NC Pre-k who receive per capita income should also complete the Per Capita form below.

What to bring with you: Proof of date of birth (birth certificate preferred), 

Cost- $650 per month, $550 per month for JCPS employees, August is prorated

Would you like to apply for NC Pre-k financial support? You will also need to bring proof of income (2023 completed taxes 1040 form or 1 month's worth of paystubs from all adults living in the home) on March 15. You can also bring a copy of the qualification letter for Medicaid or WIC for the student as proof of income. Students must turn 4 by August 31, 2024 to be eligible for NC Pre-K Financial Support. (NC Pre-k applications will be available at screenings and will be posted to this website after receiving them from the NC Pre-k office.)

Do you receive child care subsidy? If so please bring a copy of your approval letter. 

Students with completed applications and screenings on March 15th will be given priority in the program.

JCPS Preschool programs follow the calendar and school day hours of the JCPS calendar. Aftercare (childcare after 3:00 p.m.) is not available.
