JCPS will accept preschool applications and complete developmental screenings for applications for the 2023-2024 school year on March 9, 2023 at each elementary school.  Students who will turn 4 by August 31, 2023 are prioritized for most programs. Blue Ridge School and Smokey Mountain Elementary School have programs designed for students who will turn 3 by August 31, 2023 and will also accept applications for 3 year olds. 

Appointments are required.

Please call the school you would like to apply for your child to attend prior to March 9th to schedule a time for a screening for your child.

What to bring with you: Proof of date of birth (birth certificate preferred), 

Cost- $600 per month, $500 per month for JCPS employees, August is prorated

Would you like to apply for NC Pre-k financial support? You will also need to bring proof of income (2022 completed taxes 1040 form or 1 month's worth of paystubs from all adults living in the home) on March 9. Students must turn 4 by August 31, 2023 to be eligible for NC Pre-K Financial Support.

Do you receive child care subsidy? If so please bring a copy of your approval letter. 

Students with completed applications and screenings on March 9th will be given priority in the program.

JCPS Preschool programs follow the calendar and school day hours of the JCPS calendar. Aftercare (childcare after 3:00 p.m.) is not available.
